Sunday Lunch Menu

This is a sample Sunday lunch menu; everything is freshly prepared on site and every effort is made to source seasonal produce from local suppliers to be sure of provenance. The menu may be subject to minor change on the day. Open for lunch from 12.00 noon, with last orders please by 4.00pm. 

We also offer a reduced pub classics menu alongside, for those who just don’t fancy a roast!

Starters

Soup of the day served with crusty bread and butter

Pickled Brussels and Blacksticks blue salad, with candied walnuts and root vegetable crisps (V)

Tempura prawns with sweet chilli saice

Vegetable samosa with chickpea curry, pickled red onion and yoghurt (V)

Crispy fried whitebait, mixed leaf, tartare sauce and crusty bread

Chicken wings with a choice of BBQ sauce, medium spiced or very hot buffalo sauce

 

Mains

Roast topside of rare beef served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal greens, roasted root vegetables and red wine gravy

Roast pork loin served roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal greens, roasted root vegetables and red wine gravy

Roast leg of lamb served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal greens, roasted root vegetables and red wine gravy

Roasted butternut squash risotto with crispy sage and parmesan crisps (V)

Salmon and haddock fishcake with buttered spinach and a chive beurre blanc

 

Desserts

Sticky toffee banana pudding, toffee sauce served with vanilla ice-cream or cream

Warm chocolate brownie with white chocolate fudge and salted caramel ice-cream

Warm apple and blackberry crumble with warm vanilla custard

Cherry cheesecake with blackberry compote and cherry ripple ice cream

Bear sundae with chunks of brownie, squirty cream, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, marshmallows and rocky road

Salted caramel banana sundae with warm banana bread, banana pieces, chocolate sauce, salted caramel and banana ice cream, popcorn praline and nutty salted caramel chunks

Cheeseboard with Waterloo, Barkham blue and Stoney Cross served with oatcakes, grapes and festive chutney (£2 supplement)

 

Ice-creams and sorbets, all served with homemade shortbread
